Virtual Journal Club

This virtual journal club is designed for surgical nurses and surgical researchers who are new to research and want to build confidence in reading and reviewing surgical studies.

Each week, you’ll be assigned a recently published research paper in surgery and given access to an interactive journal club simulation.
  • Duration: 3 weeks 
  • Authors: NIHR GSU Faculty
Using the interactive resources, you’ll work through a structured process to critically review the paper, just as you would in a real, face-to-face journal club. Along the way, you’ll answer questions to check your understanding, then hear audio recordings of virtual “journal club members” sharing their different interpretations and perspectives.

To take the discussion further, you can join our live forum—ask questions, share your views, and see what other learners think. A new paper will be posted each week, and you’ll receive a notification so you never miss out.

This is your opportunity to practise research skills in a supportive environment and learn how surgical research can inform and improve clinical practice.
